Northern Savings Credit Union is seeking a temporary 2 year Finance & Accounting Officer located in Prince Rupert, BC. The Finance & Accounting Officer provides support to the Finance department while performing advanced accounting functions. Under direction, this position assists in the preparation of financial statements and reporting. This role must have an understanding of required legislative and regulatory compliance, and third party requirements as they relate to finance management. General Duties: Provides assistance in preparation of accurate financial statements. Responsible for assisting in the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning system. Assists in the incorporation of departmental budgets into the overall credit union budget and assists in budget presentations. Ensures appropriate reporting systems are in place at the departmental level. Maintains and manages the expense management and reimbursement. Monitors and manages overall credit union accounts payable and general ledger accounts. Develops and makes recommendations to executive management, the implementation of new and revised accounting policies and standards. Provides exceptional service by being knowledgeable, able to discern needs, and maintaining confidentiality. Assists in the management of treasury transactions. Acts as a back-up for other accounting staff. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School diploma required. Completion of post-secondary education is an asset. Experience: Previous accounting experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Financial services experience is preferred. Skills: Ability to communicate and liaise professionally with branch staff and member while maintaining confidentiality. Working knowledge of accounting software and end user computing tools. Ability to prioritize, organize work within time constraints, under pressure and competing priorities. Analytical and detailed oriented. Working knowledge, skills and experience in Microsoft Office.
