Forest Harvesting Equipment

Forest Harvesting Equipment Training The City of Quesnel's Forestry Initiatives Program is collaborating with Freya Logging on a unique training opportunity in Quesnel this summer! WHO IS THIS FOR? Individuals who are unemployed or precariously employed (see application form for details). WHAT WILL YOU GET? Successful applicants will learn how to operate a forwarder on the job for 20 days in June and July with Freya Logging. Timing will vary per student. A forwarder is a forestry vehicle used in timber harvesting that carries logs from the stump to a roadside landing. Unlike a skidder, a forwarder carries logs clear of the ground, which can reduce soil impacts. Forwarders are typically employed together with harvesters in cut-to-length logging operations. HOW TO APPLY Submit the following items by 4:00 pm May 17, 2021 to: erobinson@quesnel.ca Cover letter stating why you would like to be considered Current resume Completed application form: https://www.quesnel.ca/sites/default/files/docs/city-services/fip_forest_harvesting_equipment_training_form.pdf ADDITIONAL INFORMATION No previous machine operating experience is necessary, however applicants must demonstrate their ability and willingness to work 10 hour plus days in the forest in varying conditions. There is a potential for employment after the training is complete. There are only 3 seats available this summer, and all other applicants will be added to a list for future training opportunities.
